The FBI through its spokesperson admits this allegation of keeping the tapes under wrap. These tapes have been seized immediately after the attack on Pentagon. Failure to release what is contained on the tapes and making them accessible to the public has increased the curiosity of the public. Demands have been made based on the Freedom of Information Act.

It is expected that security cameras be installed in the other buildings surrounding the Pentagon such as the nearest gas station and the nearby hotel, among others. Consequently, the FBI would be interested on what these tapes would reveal in relation to the attack, which they could use in their intelligence activities. However, the disturbing fact is that only 1 out of 85 surveillance tapes have been cleared for public viewing. The reason/s on why the other tapes are being withheld is unclear because if they are irrelevant then why the need to keep the contents a secret.
