Recently, when the iPhone’s popularity was at its highest, Craigslist had been used by 4 robbers to lure iphone buyers to go to Brooklyn, to meet with them and only to be rubbed by these 4 men.
The 4 men were arrested only after officers responded to the same advertisement on Craigslist as a form of set up to catch these robbers.
These robbers were identified to be Ulyses Campbell, an 18 year-old kid together with Michel Orival, Christopher Thervil, both are 19 years old and Elorge Zamy, 20 years old. The 4 robbers were charged with possession of a deadly weapon and robbery.
These men have used Craigslist by advertising that they are selling iPhones and then arranged a meeting with the buyer and then robbed them of their money and other valuables. They usually set the appointment in evenings and hoping that their victim would be bringing some cash with them.
With the number of reports pointing to the criminals, these robbers were linked to about 12 robberies already.
A police officer said that these robbers had been arrested when they have noticed a similar advertisement on Craigslist that is just like the advertisement posted previously which led a buyer to being robbed. Officers pretended to be would-be buyers as well and then set up the entrapment.
